Theresa Elamparo, Tier1

How do you connect individual success and organizational success?
The Tier1 brand is the core focus of all of our marketing initiatives. From our rebrand earlier this year to the significant amount of traction we’ve made across investment banking, markets and the buy side, we’re very proud of how the Company has grown in the last several years. This is a result of the collaborative and creative culture that our team continues to cultivate and I’m very proud to be a part of a team that fosters the type of atmosphere that makes employees want to do better both for the company and for themselves.

How important is it to recognize women in the financial industry?
The importance of diversity in the industry cannot be overstated, and acknowledging the accomplishments of women in this industry brings awareness. Tier1 has a number of incredible women that have been integral to the Company’s growth and success and I’ve had the opportunity to work with so many inspiring women across the industry during my career. We can help in so many ways such as educating younger women about the opportunities available in our industry and ensuring they have the tools needed to grow and prosper.

What is your advice for women considering or just starting financial careers?
Learn as much as you can and network. The financial sector is constantly changing and education for anyone in our sector is the key to staying ahead of the curve, whether you’re a female or male. Read as much as you can get your hands on about what’s happening and talk to people who are embedded in the space. Ask them about their experiences and what they recommend. I think we all wish we knew then what we know now.

What are your future goals?
Tier1 is on a very positive growth trajectory and I want to make sure we do everything we can on the marketing and branding side to continue that over the coming years. We’ve grown our team as well as the Company’s client base so, in order to continue on our current path, we’ll need to stay ahead of the trends that are unfolding on both the buy and sell side. I believe that our ongoing collaboration with clients and partners along with our desire to maximize client relationships through actionable insights will be the foundation of our success.
