TRADING UP: Citi Adds Bulkin; David Kim to BofA

Citigroup has hired Dmitry Bulkin as its new US head of electronic cash trading. Bulkin joins Citi after nearly 15 years at Credit Suisse, where he was most recently head of liquidity strategy and market structure for US equity trading.

Bank of America’s Hedge Fund unit saw two senior executives – Michael Dolan and Kristin Maule – both directors in prime-brokerage sales leave. Also, Chris Throop, a managing director in consulting left the firm. Jonathan Brenner, Katie Alberti and Sally Carlson, all vice-presidents in capital introductions have also left the firm, Traders Magazine has learned.

On the flip side, Bank of America landed David Kim, the US head of flow trading at JPMorgan, who joins the firm in a similar role. Kim has also spent time at UBS and Goldman Sachs before JPMorgan.

Wells Fargo Asset Management grew its Multi-Asset Solutions Team by hiring three. First, Eddie Cheng has joined the firm as head of International Portfolio Management. Cheng’s focus is on managing absolute return and alternative risk premia strategies. Cheng comes to WFAM from Schroders, where he was a senior portfolio manager with its multi-asset team. He reports to Nico Marais, president of WFAM and head of Multi-Asset Solutions, and is based in London.

Chenfei Ma and Stephane Renevier also recently joined WFAM’s Multi-Asset Solutions team, Ma as an investment analyst and Renevier as a portfolio manager. Both Ma and Renevier, who most recently worked on the multi-asset team at Schroders, report to Cheng. They are based in London.

Cantor Fitzgerald has poached UBS’s head of energy trading to join its expanding equities desk, according to reports. Neil Smith, who was most recently head of energy and industrial equity trading at UBS, which he left in February after a round of lay-offs. Smith worked as the bank’s head of energy and industrial trading for nearly 18 years. In tandem with his duties as head of the energy desk, he was also head of cash equity trading for two years until April 2015.

Backstop Solutions Group, a provider of cloud-based productivity solutions for consulting firms, pensions, private equity firms and other institutional investment firms, appointed Nancy Wells as Senior Vice President, Global Sales. A veteran with more than 30 years of experience, Wells will lead Backstop’s sales efforts, as well as join Backstop’s Executive Management Committee.

Crypto Facilities, a cryptocurrency trading platform and index provider, appointed Sui Chung to lead its index and pricing products business. Sui onboards from Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC where he latterly led Euromoney Indices, the firm’s financial benchmarks business.

Ophir Gertner, Co-Founder of Stox and Smartologic, announced that he is set to join INVioU, an innovator that uses blockchain technology to facilitate invoice factoring (AR) for small businesses.

Mizuho Americas landed Paul Sankey, an oil & gas research analyst consistently ranked among the best in the industry. Sankey is a UK graduate of the University of Manchester, and Ampleforth College. Sankey is based in New York and reports to the Head of US Equity Research Susan Gilbertson.

Jim Fiesel has joined the Finastra as Managing Director of Capital Markets and Lending Sales for the Americas. Based in New York City, he will drive sales momentum for these business lines across the United States, Canada and Latin America. Most recently, he was Managing Director for the Americas at Calypso, where he focused on selling capital markets solutions to banks and investment firms. He also held leadership roles with Thomson Tradeweb, Thomson Financial, and Bloomberg LP.

Carla Jane Findlay-Dons has joined Brown Brothers Harriman Investor Services as its Chief Global Regulatory and Market Strategist, resident in London. In this role, Findlay-Dons will lead the Global Regulatory and Market Strategy Group. She joins from Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) where she was an Executive Director for Regulatory Management with a particular focus on EMEA regulation. Prior to that, Carla Jane led GSAM’s Strategic Client Services Fixed Income team for the Americas.

BTIG, LLC hired Gregory Lewis, CFA, and Igor Levi, CFA to provide Energy and Shipping equity research coverage. Both analysts will be based in New York, and will report into David Lenchus, Director of Research at BTIG.

Lewis joins BTIG as a Managing Director. He will provide coverage of the Energy and Shipping sectors, focused on oil services and marine transportation. Prior to BTIG, he spent eleven years at Credit Suisse, where he held similar roles including Global Head of Maritime Research.

Levi onboards as a Director. He will provide coverage of the Energy sector, focused on oil services. Prior, Levi held a similar role at Morgan Stanley, where he began his career over a decade ago.

Citadel has hired Rajiv Shukla, an executive director and a senior technologist at Morgan Stanley, as a director in its New York office. Shukla joins Citadel with 23 years of experience, eight of which were gained at Morgan Stanley. At Morgan Stanley he was the global head of development of market data systems and head of the related development teams in North America, EMEA, and APAC.
