If you bring your own trading application, Perseus LiquidPath covers the rest of what’s needed to get up and running, i.e. buying and selling.
“The building blocks that make up LiquidPath as a shrink-wrapped service are all of the components that you need to trade in any marketplace, except the application itself,” said Jock Percy, Perseus chief executive.
LiquidPath is a fully managed service offering trading infrastructure, connectivity, hardware equipment & local consultancy for the buy side, sell side and service vendors.
“What that means is if you want to trade in London, Sao Paolo, Istanbul and Hong Kong tomorrow, and you have either your own or a proprietary trading application, you can light up within 24 hours,” Percy told Markets Media. “We’ll even help you make your connection to either a local broker-dealer or to exchange itself.”
“If you want DMA (Direct Market Access) into the exchange, we can facilitate that. If you want to route your trade through a broker-dealer from our LiquidPath access point, we automatically provide you that cross connect and off you go,” Percy continued. “There’s no one who shrink-wraps and provides that entire service in a non-competitive, agnostic way to anyone, whether you’re a bank or hedge fund or a proprietary trader.”
LiquidPath-provided IT support services include co-location and proximity services for DMA, servers and storage, network and security, monitoring, space, energy, and location. Managed services include infrastructure for the buy side, sell side and vendors targeting the global financial marketplace and Latin American marketplace, network operations centers and remote hands, consulting, and ‘last mile’ management.
“Plus there’s the white-glove ‘rack and stack’ service, so if you have your own server and you want to ship it to Taiwan and deploy it in our environment there, perhaps because you’re worried about the proprietary nature of your trading engine, we accommodate that as well,” Percy said.
LiquidPath can package Perseus products that would otherwise be sold a la carte. “It integrates those individual services things like High Precision Time, co-location, and proximity co-location,” Percy said. “You can buy each one of those building blocks on their own, but LiquidPath is much more beneficial to the client, especially when they’re entering markets that they’re not in today.”
“Some people don’t want the headache of having to build anything DIY,” Percy continued. “Who can do all of this for me, but in a highly scalable way so that I can manage? Check off the component parts and then scale each component, but at the same time get a full managed service? That’s LiquidPath.”
