What was your reaction to winning the award?

Winning the Markets Media Women in Finance Asia Award for Excellence in Trading Platform was a deeply gratifying and humbling experience. It re-affirmed the hard work and dedication I’ve invested in my role at Citadel Securities and throughout my career. I felt immense pride and gratitude, not just for myself, but also for my team and everyone who has supported me along the way. This recognition motivates me to keep moving forward, and more importantly reminds me to give it back by supporting other women whenever, wherever I can.

What have been the main drivers of your success?

I believe a key part of my success is a relentless commitment to pursuing excellence and continuous learning. The dynamic nature of finance and trading requires staying ahead of the curve, so I constantly seek to enhance my knowledge and skills. Additionally, the support and collaboration within my team has been invaluable and has greatly contributed to our collective achievements. Lastly, resilience and adaptability have been crucial in navigating the complexities and challenges inherent in the field of market making.

What are the challenges surrounding real-time trading technology?

The rapid pace of advancement in technology has been a strong driving force of the evolution of trading. However, it is also a major challenge for all market participants because we must continuously innovate and think about ways to combine our trading acumen with the latest technology to keep making our executions more efficient and seamless.

What is your greatest professional achievement?

One of my greatest professional achievements has been setting up and scaling the onshore trading desk in India with my colleagues at Citadel Securities. Joining as the first trader in the India office and navigating the complexities of this buildout has been incredibly rewarding. This role has allowed me to make significant contributions to our trading infrastructure and drive the desk’s efficiency and performance.

How do you deal with pressure or stressful situations?

In stressful situations, I prioritize maintaining a clear mind. One thing that helps me find effective solutions is to break down complex problems, into manageable steps and then focus on one step at a time. I also believe in the importance of work-life balance and regularly engaging in activities that help me recharge like yoga, long walks and spending time with friends and family.

What’s your favorite aspect of working at Citadel Securities?

My favorite part about working at Citadel Securities is the culture of innovation and excellence. The environment is stimulating and there is a strong emphasis on pushing boundaries and exploring new frontiers in trading technology. I also appreciate the collaborative spirit in the team – across functions and geographies. Additionally, the firm’s commitment to continuous learning and development provides ample opportunities for personal and professional growth.

What are your future goals?

I am passionate about fostering a more inclusive and diverse environment in finance. I plan to continue contributing to initiatives that support the participation of women and other under-represented groups in the industry.
