ICC Launches ICC Alpha Line of Overclocked Financial Servers

10.07.2016

ICC ALPHA –  NORTHBROOK, Ill. –  International Computer Concepts (ICC), a leading systems integrator of enterprise-level computing solutions, today announced the release of a new line of overclocked servers: ICC Alpha™. These systems were designed specifically for high-frequency trading (HFT) applications, where sequential processing speed is critical. ICC Alpha™ servers will first be demoed at The Trading Show 2016 in New York City on October 6.

ICC Alpha™ was designed from the ground up by a dedicated in-house overclocking team. The systems were uncompromisingly built for speed: pure processing power. Multiple memory kits were tested and then selected to deliver the highest bandwidth and lowest latency possible. In addition, many changes have been implemented in the BIOS, OS, and hardware for minimum jitter and maximum performance. The ICC Alpha™ is able to achieve these unparalleled speeds with the utilization of a custom cooling solution in each node, developed with the consultation of thermal engineers. ICC offers customers a fully customized solution by working with BIOS engineers to tailor ICC Alpha™ systems to the unique needs of each customer’s applications.

“Our HFT customers are seeking absolutely the fastest possible processing available on the market to run their financial applications,” observed ICC’s Director of Development Alexey Stolyar. “ICC Alpha™ allows in an unprecedented way for trading firms to stay ahead of the competition in an industry where nanoseconds could mean the difference between loss or significant profit.”

The ICC Alpha™ line of custom-cooled and overclocked servers includes:

ICC Alpha™ R-818v3
Processor (per node): Intel® Core™ i7-5960x at 5.0 GHz (Haswell-E)
Memory (per node): Up to 32 GB DDR4 at 3200 MHz

ICC Alpha™ R-818v3e
Processor (per node): Intel® Xeon® E5-1680v3 at 5.0 GHz (Haswell-E)
Memory (per node): Up to 32 GB DDR4 at 3200 MHz/2666 MHz ECC

ICC Alpha™ R-818v4
Processor (per node): Intel® Core™ i7-6950x at 4.7 GHz (Broadwell-E)
Memory (per node): Up to 32 GB DDR4 at 3200 MHz

Each one of these systems comes standard with 4x 2.5″ SATA drive support, 2×16 PCIe 3.0 full profile slots, and a 4000 W shared power supply (208-240 V).

The ICC Alpha™ line of overclocked servers complements the existing ICC Vega™ line, which has a similar purpose of delivering the best speeds for sequential processing. The difference lies in the type of cooling solution and the clock speeds that can be attained. Whereas both ICC Vega™ and ICC Alpha™ feature custom cooling technology, ICC Alpha™ is the premium offering, exhibits unprecedented cooling in the server space, and can surpass the clock speeds of the ICC Vega™ overclocked servers.
